My Top 3 Hot Beverages to Brave Winter

Winter’s Coming!

Did you read it with the raspy voice and the accent? I sure did while I wrote it. How can you not?

Hey Foodies, have you noticed that the weather’s getting a bit chilly? That means that our dearest tropical winter is coming (and mind you, it might be warm again in just a few days lol). But we still need to be careful as when there are sudden changes in temperatures, that’s when we’re more likely to catch a flu or a cold.

To welcome the cold with open arms, here’s some great heartwarming beverages to get you going.

Black Tea Flavored with Orange Juice

This has become a current favorite this year and you don’t need a lot to make this tea. Brew your black tea (I like to use any of the usual Mauritian brands). Once it’s ready, I pour in the juice of an orange and sometimes I add a tiny drop of honey. Mix it well and enjoy. This is my go-to tea if I am feeling the beginning of a cold. You can also switch the orange for a lemon.

Hot Cocoa, Foodwini style

This is my indulgent take on the Hot Cocoa and it’s so rich and yummy. This Hot Cocoa is perfect for the very cold windy days when you just want to curl up in bed and watch a good movie. The recipe is here: https://foodwini.com/a-heartwarming-mug-of-hot-cocoa/

Golden Milk, A Traditional Drink

Turmeric Milk is a traditional Indian beverage that is known for its healthy benefits. It is known to treat coughs and inflammations and boost your immune system. It takes a bit of time to get used to the taste. This is just what you need this winter. The recipe is here: https://foodwini.com/turmeric-milk/

Of course, sometimes I do not want to go through the hassle of concocting the perfect drink, especially when I am tired and there’s some great high-quality alternatives such as the special brews by Myteabox, the Mauritian Tea Box Subscription Company launched by 2 tea lovers. They come up with wonderful flavors and keep on innovating and surprising us! (I still can’t get over their zanana confit tea!!) Check them out at https://www.myteabox.mu/
