No-fuss Chocolate Truffles

Easter is round the corner and there’s one thing we never get enough of; chocolate!

Chocolate with a quote

We have the coolest chocolate truffles recipe to treat your family and friends this year. These truffles are very easy to make and since we’re using yogurt instead of heavy cream or cream cheese makes them very light. The only thing is that you will end up with messy hands but it’s worth it. Let’s make these truffles!

Preparation

  1. You want to get the extra moisture out of the yogurt first if you’re using plain normal yogurt. But you can skip this step for greek yogurt which is usually thicker in texture. If you’re using plain yogurt, set a sieve over a large bowl and pour the yogurt in the sieve and set it aside.
  2. Cut your chocolate into small pieces and put them in a microwavable bowl. This step is tricky because we’re going to melt the chocolate in the microwave but if we’re not careful, we might cook it.
  3. Set the temperature to low or medium and heat it for some 30 seconds. Remove the bowl and give it a stir before putting it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and give it another good stir. Usually that should do the trick but if you can find bits of chocolate, repeat the procedure.
  4. Once your chocolate has melted, pour in the yogurt and mix well. Cover with a cling film and put in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  5. This is when the fun starts. We’re going to roll little balls of chocolates using our hands and toss them in your favorite toppings. Typically, chocolate truffles are meant to look like actual truffles. Thus, the traditional way is to toss them in cocoa powder. But you can also use other toppings like sprinkles or grated coconut.
  6. With the help of a spoon, scoop some of the truffle batter and use your hands to form a small ball. Truffles do not have to look perfectly round. Next, toss the ball in the topping of your choice and you have your first truffle. I ended up with some 18 truffles. Keep the truffles in the fridge for another 2 hours minimum.
  7. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
