We tried…The Blendjet Portable Blender
I have been using my Blendjet portable blender since the end of October and thought it was high time to give it an honest review. Overall I think that it’s a really handy thing if you love your smoothies and you’re always on the move.
Please note that this is NOT a sponsored review.
Why did I need a portable blender?
If you’ve known me for a while, you probably know that I love my daily smoothies and ii never skip my dose. In September I started this new job which required me to be out by 7am and I would get home after 7pm most of the time. That meant that smoothies were a big no. I did not see myself having one early in the morning or late in the evening. Except for the weekends I wasn’t having my regular healthy smoothies anymore and I felt that my body needed that.
I had seen adverts about the Blendjet Portable Blender for a while and I thought that it may solve my problem and it did!
Where did I buy it?
I got my blender from Blendjet’s website and paid via paypal. I purchased it for $36 which also included the shipping cost. It arrived in Mauritius around 3 weeks later and I just had to collect it at the post office in Port Louis and pay the tax which amounted to some Rs50 if I remember correctly.
Why did I choose Blendjet?
I think it convinced me pretty quickly. It seemed easy to use, light enough to carry around and didn’t require high maintenance. Charging was simple; you get a usb port and you can connect it to your phone’s charger or a laptop (I wouldn’t charge it on my laptop though). Of course, quality-wise it seemed to be all good and it never failed me so far. And the colors were cute!
How do I use it?
Charging
I take my blender to work every Monday, leave it there for the week and on Friday I take it back home. I only charge it on Sunday evening or on Monday morning. It takes just 2 to 3 hours to charge which is pretty handy. I only charge it once a week and I can make 1 tall glass of smoothie every day. I suppose that it really depends on how many times you use it. On the website it’s mentioned that you can make around 10 cups with 1 full charge.
Preparing my smoothies
Since the blender is smaller than normal, it means that large chunks won’t work. So I have to dice my fruits and veggies. The basic rule is, the harder the fruit the smaller you cut it.
Using the Blendjet Blender
I fill it around ¼ with water or any liquid depending on wat I’m making (milkshake or fruit smoothie). Then I add my fruits. I don’t want to overload my blender as the fruits will get stuck in the blades which make it super annoying. So I just add them by the handful. I place the lid and I press the button for the blender to operate its magic. Within a few minutes, my smoothie is ready and I just need to pou it in a glass.
The thickness of the smoothie will depend on the amount of liquid you’re using and the fruits as well. The blendjet Portable Blender does come with a strainer but I personally never used it.
How do I wash it?
I like to give it a rinse first. Next, I’ll fill it with water, add a little dash of washing liquid, place the lid and press the power button. Next I’ll give it a good rinse and for the outside, I’d wash t as I would handwash any glass but I’m more careful as I don’t want water to get to the power area. As for the lid, I wash them the normal way. Then, I leave it to dry by turning it upside down.
Things I like about it:
The size
It’s really handy and easy to carry around. It’s light-weight and can fit in your backpack easily.
Use it anywhere
I can use it anywhere as long as I charge it fully and if I don’t have a glass, I can always drink directly from it. I just need to make sure I don’t press the power button or I’ll be soaked in smoothies. (LOL)
Quick Charge
It takes only 3 hours to charge the Blendjet Portable Blender and that is very practical. Like I said, I only charge it once a week because I make 5-7 smoothies a week with this.
Quick Smoothies
It just takes minutes to have your drinks ready as the Blades are super powerful.
The tutorials
Blendjet frequently posts tutorials and recipes which gives you plenty of ideas on how to use the portable blender.
Things that need an improvement
The charger
That’s my personal opinion but Blendjet should probably consider giving an adapter instead of only the usb cable. I think it would be very handy.
Well that sums up my first product review for Foodwini. As I mentioned previously, this is not a sponsored review and it’s my honest opinion about the product.
