Apple Chips

How about an easy but low calorie snack to munch on while watching a good movie? This is something I love to do whenever there’s too many apples in the fridge and trust me, it makes a great sugar-free (YES!) snack.

You can make these with green or red apples and it’s very handy. If you tend to snack a lot, my apple chips will become one of your favorite treats. You can make these with green or red apples and it’s very handy.

The best part is that you can make a huge batch and store them in an air-tight container. These will last you for days and they’re pretty healthy and easy to make.

I prefer making mine with red apples which are generally sweeter. These apple chips can be very addictive.

Fair warning, you will need to use a mandolin to cut the apples into thin uniform slices. A mandolin can be a dangerous tool so there’s no need to rush with it.

Ingredients:

  • 4 red or green apples
  • Cinnamon powder

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut your apples into halves and remove the pitted area. You may want to cut them into quarters if you find that easier.
  3. Next, using your mandolin, cut your apples into uniform slices.
  4. Transfer your apples into a bowl and toss in some cinnamon powder. You can use around 2 teaspoons.
  5. Set your apple slices on the parchment paper. You don’t need to leave much space.
  6. Bake at around 140C for around 6 to 8 minutes, depending on your oven. Once you see that they are a bit dry and a little brown around the edges, it means that they’re ready. You should keep a close eye on them because they can burn easily.
  7. Once ready, transfer into a plate and let them cool. You can keep them in an air-tight container. It will last you around a week or so.
